REI: Aerospace Sewed Fabrics (Soft Goods) Manufacturing
Rothe has over sixteen years of aerospace soft goods manufacturing
experience in direct support of NASA, Lockheed Martin, the military
and commercial aerospace industry. From July 1993 to June 2003,
Rothe operated the NASA Fabric Shop at Johnson Space Center
as a prime contractor manufacturing aerospace flight hardware
consisting of exotic fabrics sewn into bags, tethers, belts,
blankets, covers, straps, lanyards, equipment covers and packaging,
using exotic materials including nylon, Nomex, Armalon, Teflon,
Kevlar, Ortho-fabric, polyimide, vinyl and fabric, webbing and
batting. These items were used primarily on the Space Shuttle,
International Space Station and NASA's Transportable Habitat
(Transhab) project (an inflatable habitation module suitable
for space flight).
From July 2003 to January 2005, we continued to operate the
NASA Fabrics Shop as a subcontractor to Lockheed Martin Science,
Engineering and Technology contract. Since January 2004, Rothe
Enterprises, Inc. has been and continues to be a subcontractor
to Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems/Space Operations on NASA's
CARGO Missions Contract. Under this subcontract, REI Manufacturing
is committed to a long-term partnership with Lockheed Martin
and NASA for the manufacture and/or repair of Flight Stowage
Bags used on the Space Shuttle and International Space Station.
To this end, Rothe operates a NASA certified Fabrics Depot,
maintains certified technicians, the necessary manufacturing
equipment, and necessary depot procedures, documentation and
certifications which are periodically audited by NASA and/or
Lockheed Martin.
The Rothe Depot is certified by NASA as an authorized Depot/Manufacturing
Facility for Orbital Replacement Units (ORUs) and/or Shop Replaceable
Units (SRUs). The REI Facility and ORU certifications are documented
in Annex 7 to SSP-50276, Revision A, Depot/manufacturing Facility
Certification Plan under the International Space Station Program,
dated 31 May 2005. Accreditations and Certifications are controlled
by the Vehicle Control Board (VCB) in accordance with the ISS
Configuration Management Handbook, SSP 50123-01.
Today, we continue this work at our commercial facility, expanding
our services to Department of Defense, the aircraft industry,
and other commercial and aerospace manufacturers. Our manufacturing
facility was ISO 9001:2000 SAE AS 9100:2004 certified by ABS
Quality Evaluations on 13 July 2009.
